Treehouse Kindergarten Program

Children in the Kindergarten must be five years old by December 2nd.  Children in this class are required to be fully potty trained. With two teachers in the classroom, we strive to maintain a child to teacher ratio of 10:1.  According to the personality of the class and at the discretion of the director enrollment may exceed this proposed ratio as long as we are still in compliance with state requirements.

Our Kindergarten Program is a well-rounded, academic and developmentally appropriate program designed to prepare children for either Kindergarten or First Grade the following fall depending on their readiness.  We work closely with many local private and public schools to ensure appropriate placement for the next school year. We strive to maintain a balance between teacher-directed learning opportunities, self-directed learning times, and group interaction time.  We use MacMillan / McGraw-Hill language books and Scott Foresman math books.

The Kindergarten curriculum also includes daily music, movement, Bible stories, more advanced art and writing experience.  Children learn to write letters, recognize and understand letter sounds and number concepts and greatly enjoy special cooking projects.

The Kindergarten Class uses the large play yard, which includes a sand box, two play structures, and large area for riding tricycles and group games.  The Kindergarten Class meets Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon.  Extended day schedules are provided on a space available basis. Full time Kindergarten students will be placed in the K-Prep Class in the afternoon.
